Internet Domain Company Launches ATM Service

Unusual in an industry promoting online payment by credit card, TCNS
introduces a different payment option for domain names.

TORONTO, Feb. 10 /CNW/ - TransCanada Network Services announces the
launch of a new domain name distribution channel. TCNS customers can now
register domains online and pay for them at their Bank, the Bank Machine as
well as through the Bank's online and telephone banking bill payment service.
TransCanada Network Services worked in cooperation with all major banks
across Canada for the past few months to make sure all systems work flawlessly
for today's launch.
"We're thrilled to be leading the way with the acceptance of Telephone,
Online and ATM bill payments as a way to pay for a domain. It should make
owning domains as convenient as paying your phone bill," said Gigi Baxter,
Operations Manager at TransCanada Network Services.
Like a license plate, a domain needs to be registered and renewed year to
year.
Dot-ca domain names only became widely available to Canadians as of
December 2000. Less than 1/3 of the Canadian registered 1.3 million domains
end in .ca (CIRA, December 2002). There is still a good selection of .ca
domain names to choose from. As the popularity of .ca domains continues to
grow, TransCanada Network Services looks for innovative ways to make it easy
for Canadians to own them.
TransCanada Network Services is 100% privately held company, registering
domains since 1996 to thousands of Canadians. Dot.ca is a node in the
TransCanada Network and is certified by the Canadian Internet Registration
Authority to sell .ca domain names.
